I have a question for other busy moms:
A friend had minor success fishing with raw chicken at a local beach. If I want to grab something off the shelf at Safeway, hopefully for less than $5, is the chicken my best bet?
Have you had success with other raw meat (such as turkey), chicken liver, weiner, or bacon? Or is it better to buy the cheapest raw fish I can find?
Thank you!

Hot dogs.
Get a pack of dew worms.
A pack of herring or anchovy.
Or dig for free bait. Sea worms. Watch out for the pincher.

Chicken is good crab bait.

I prefer the fresh white shrimps sold at T&T for the local bottom fish if that's what you are after. I like to do an O/N salt cure in the fridge to make them stay longer on the hook. Squid is also good if they're available.
However sea worms are king if you can get them..dig for them or flip rocks during a good low tide.

Deli shrimp work great for a lot of fisheries

A piece of chicken skin will last forever but i prefer mussels or sand worms.

i like using squid rings, cut into strips and use as bait.
Squid tends to say on the hook longer than shrimp.
