BC spent 7-8 billion & Russia 50 billion ( something like that ) to put on Winter Games. ( extra security as there have been bomb threats )

From what I've seen everyone is having a great time.
As mentioned ,nice to see Canada doing so well.
Hope the Jamaican bobsled team gets a metal.  ;D

Russian pair skaters did a amazing performance!
Amazed at the skills needed & determination in these events.

Not to mention one mistake & a serious injury or death can happen.

Looking forward to the men's hockey.
Personally think Canada will get a bronze at best.

Even Peter Nedved ( ex Canuck. ) will play.
He's in his 40s.
If he does well maybe he could help the Canucks for a few months.
Good play maker.

Hopefully no terror plot will take place.

The opening ceremony was "super".

Odds are they will get a "metal". No chance of getting a "medal" though. ;)

Did I spell Peter Nedved correctly?

Guessed on that spelling. ;D

Canada wins today in hockey over Norway.
Score could of been higher but the Norway goalie is talented.
Sign that sucker up as we need another goalie soap opera in Vancouver.
Only this time have 3 Canuck goalies wanting ice time.

Tell ya one thing the bigger ice surface really makes for 10x more exciting play.
Room to skate, pass, play make, & if a player decides to burst out in high energy & try to get in the clear & rip a full slap shot.

NHL would be well advised to go with the same sized ice surface.

Canada 2 Finland 1 in overtime. Canada now has a couple of days to rest and plan before their next game.

Canada will face the winner of Switzerland/Latvia, Finland will face the winner of Russia/Norway. Doughty has been playing extremely well, 4 goals in 3 games.

Tv sports only showed pics of an event because of copyright.

Even a restaurant in the Vancouver area had to change their outdr advertising sign because of copyright.
Sign had some "rings".

The IOC sometimes go overboard in trying to protect their copyright. Remember the Olympia pizza ?

Yes that's the one I was referring to. Guess should of posted in the Vancouver area.
Think it may be located in Burnaby or N Van. ( possibly in Vancouver )
That sign was there 1st before 2010.
IOC has big stomping feet.

Weird part is  >:(there is so much counterfeit products in stores now & it's even so big a problem the gov. can not put a bent to curb it one bit.
Even some parts were in the US Pres. helicopter & Airforce 1 plane.
Watches,electronics,batteries,toothpaste,hand bags,jackets,& even medications.

Copyright on that stuff but counterfeits sold openly in stores.
Seen a tv news show recently on the subject.

If Canada wins the Gold medal in hockey they better check if it's a fake  :-\
Heard something about that meteor that fell in Russia that shattered windows & landed in a lake has had some bits of it put into medals.
Some or maybe all.
That definitely would make them extra unique & special .

Canada dominated Latvia this morning and won a hard earned 2-1 victory. The Latvian goalie was simply outstanding.

Russia is out.

Those Finnish players really skate full speed & do not let up for 60 minutes. They just "fly".
Sweden vs Fins

Canada vs USA.
US team is very strong & it could go either way.
Same for Sweden & Fins game. Toss up.

That Latvia goalie nearly pulled a King Richard B. ( ex Canuck goalie who got the team to the finals back in the 80s )

Russian hockey players & fans must be so disappointed. OUCH !

The pressure of winning the Gold on home ice may have gotten to the Russians. Ovechkin was a non-factor.

And perhaps some sketchy calls against the US...

I agree Dave the "cross check" call at the end was a bad call.

Caught the 3 rd period this am & the USA was ahead 2-0 with 10 minutes or there abouts.
Canada was trying hard but the USA team was skating well & checking checking & checking.
Just the way the game was going I thought it's a done deal & turned the channel.

6pm tv news comes on & talks about Canada getting 2 golds today.
Curling & in woman's hockey !
Could hardly believe it. Surprise big time.

TSN had a replay so seen the comeback.
Unreal.
If someone had a big $ bet on the USA ladies team to win gold & leading 2-0 with little time to play & BINGO "all hell breaks loose" & 2 quick goals by Canada to tie & then in OT the US get 3-4 quality scoring chances in the 1st minute. How the puck stayed out of the net with those heavy shots from close in & good angles was unbelievable !!!

Also thought the hit was clean on the side of the net & a cross check on Canada was a bad call.
The stick was never stuck out as she gave the body check.

Mind you the slashing call was also very weak against the US player.
She barely tapped the goalie's glove.
Assume international hockey once the goalie has the puck the play is dead & no tapping with your stick. Period.

As far as the last penalty against the USA player ,Canada coach wants a penalty shot & the US coach said it was no penalty was both players were skating hard, one trying to get a break away & the other player giving chase & their skates hit accidental like ( tangle ) thus they both fell at the same time.
Personally think it was a no call.

In the OT in a gold medal game let them play & decide it on the ice unless there is a totally rule broken like boarding or a tripping where a player would of had a break away.
Canada never said never & they kept skating & trying & they got the W & the "gold".
They could of quit & gave up as needing 2 goals was not likely with mere minutes.

Woman's curling team gets "gold" & won every game !
Not one loss.
How great a feat is that. Never happened before. ( think so I'm right on that )

The US was given a verbal warning on that earlier in the game.

You can't say "it was a clean hit" since bodychecking is a penalty in women's hockey.
As for the "they were warned", it's overtime. Could you imagine that call in an NHL playoff game? It's a ridiculous penalty in a gold medal OT.
Wickenheiser was on a breakaway and was hauled down from behind. Unless the ref thought it was a dive it should have been a penalty shot for tripping.

What a day ! Canada wins Gold and Silver in Women's ski cross. Charles Cournoyer wins Bronze in 500 meter speed skating. Canada wins 1-0 over USA to advance to Sunday's Gold medal game.

unreal game today between the Canadian and American mens teams. Canada did a great job of keeping the US off the board. Plus Jbo gave Benn an beaut slap pass.

Thanks got enlightened why a clean body check & tap were penalties in ladies hockey.

One more W & Canada gets GOLD.

Swedes vs Canada.
So far the big ice surface has not hurt the Canadian team.
Thought they would only manage a bronze because of the bigger rink which NHLers do not play on. European teams play on this sized rink all the time.
This is the biggest pressure game.

Go Canada Go.
Will get up at 6 am & watch remainder of game.
Woman's game vs US taught me not to change the channel should Canada be down by 2 goals  :o

I still can't believe that Finland shut out the US. I mean Tukka is a good goalie but man the last 2 games must have been hard on them Americans. I'm lucky I have hockey tonight, because I'll be wide awake come 4 am. Go Canada Go

Great effort & only 3 goals against in entire journey;how unreal is that & on a big sized European rink.

Talk about solid in every department.

Never seen any breakdowns where the opposition got 3-4 scoring chances in a row.

Price was so tuned in stopping the puck.

I move that Canucks GM sign this team tomorrow. ( big chance that would happen )
Watched replay of the game on a CBC which just finished.
Started at 11 am.

Gold !
Torts said he wanted the Swedes to win. Boo!
