Title: Nucks and Buffalo!
Post by: Big Steel on January 19, 2007, 05:08:06 PM
Well, Sabourin is in, not very pleased with that!!  They do have the allstar break after this game, plenty of time to rest.  Anyhow, I am now not very pleased that I just paid for this game, but......  Maybe it will turn out fine.  Just don't think that it was a smart move starting him now.  There are games in which he could start right after the break.  Rant over.  I am calling 3-2 anyhow. :)

Do you guys want Luongo to burn out? He is the most worked goalie in the league and needs a day off. He is starting in the All-Star game so no rest for him and he needs it the most. If we lose we lose but Luongo needs the break. Canucks better address the backup position after the All-Star break cause we dont want Luongo burning out just before the playoffs. Even if the backup played 10 games all year and went 5-5 that would be fine. If Sabourin was to play 10 games he would be lucky to go 1-9.....

Dissagree Brian, Luongo has always played a ton.  He is starting the Allstar game, but big deal, he will play an easy 20 min, then rest and has three more days after that to rest.  They are playing the highest scoring team in the league tonight and Luongo is hot and told the coach he wanted to play.  Just sayiing that there was a better time to get Sabourin in, they have Chicago, LA and Columbus coming up!! ;)  Just doesn't make much sense.  Also the first goal was week, Sabby should have covered it up, not poke it right to Brierre for him to slide it over to be put in an empty net.

I said that Brierre slid it across to be slid into an empty net!!  I know he didn't get it, I am watching the game and he is on my Fantasy team.  He got me another assist!! ;D

There's not as much rest at an allstar game as one might think.  Luongo might just play one period, but there's skills contest, tons of partying , and hoisting a number of bottles.

At least the Canucks are guaranteed of 1 point as they continue to rolling, rolling, rolling  right along to a Stanley Cup as my good friend Chris will say.

Canucks need to get themselves a dependable backup. Even though Sabourin had a very good record in the American Hockey League, he has still have to prove he can play at this high level. One can't expect Luongo to play every game without burning out.

I thought Kesler scored in the S/O. what happened?
Were you listening to the game on 1040??? If so, the commentator jumped the gun. He thought Kesler had scored, but he didn't.

Naslund sure looked poor again in the shootout.  He skated in with more speed this time but didn't give so much as a head fake.  Miller read it easily.  I don't know why they keep sending him out there?

Still, I'm happy they came out of this road series with 7 out of a possible 8 points.
