wondering if we should have a section on here for that???

It would be interesting to hear first hand reviews of different gear, not what a manufacturer would lead you to believe...could also update it, as we all suffer from the "magic bean" effect with anything new...( magic bean is everything you get new is wonderful and the best ever, after a few times out and the magic dust wears off you can then give a more detailed report or update on it )

I know for me, I'm a gear Ho...I can give lots of reviews both pre and post divorce...One area that would be pretty interesting for guys is Wader etc. reviews, I'm amazed at how many of them flat out fail...Right Merc?? ;) So in the long run you might be able to make a more informed decision on your purchases...

Is this do able Rod???

That's a great idea XG.

As a gear ho, who is also a bit of a packrat, I could probably open my own tackle shop.

For those who are new to the sport, and are perhaps (as we all are) living on a tight budget, this could save many $$ and some aggravation.

I have an idea ...... perhaps we can form a group "Gear Ho / Centrepin Enthusiasts / Cigar Samplers - Anonymous".

1) The first step is acknowledging we have a problem.

2) The second step is admitting that there is bugger all we can do about it.

It's a good idea, ABA.  As I know you change your gear more often than your underwear, you should be able to give us a ton of feedback on gear.   ;D

GHCECSA?

Doesn't make for a good acronymn.

How about Gear Ho and Eccessive Cigars, Centrepins Organization or G.H.E.C.C.O.?

Or,

Cigars, And Centrepins Anonymous or C.A.C.A.?

Sounds like a great idea. I have an additional item for the list. "Sale items" I know I get my fair share of leads on promo sales, and I am sure there are other members who do too.

In advance of a more organized structure, I'll put in my 2c for products:
Weldcraft boats: best boats on the water from top to bottom
Yamaha four strokes, ditto
Scotty downriggers
Chevy 2500 HD
Simms G3 waders
Simms L2 wading boots with aqua stealth soles
Orvis Tailwaters no sweat wading jacket.
Shimano reels
Abu Garcia C4 (2006 model)
Sage fly rods
Ross Rhythm fly reel
Orvis superlight sunglasses
Maxima ultra green line
Gamakatsu hooks
Cabela's rods (either tourney trail or XML) these were made with G-loomis blanks a couple years ago.  Not sure who makes them now, but they're as good as any $250 + US rod for a fraction of the price.
Jenna Jameson  :o

I won't bash too many products, but here's a couple that I've had bad luck with in the past (that includes bad customer service).
Quantum reels, still catching up with diawa and shimano and abu garcia, also bad customer service.
Mercury outboards, not a Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki.  Owned one, always had issues, known many people with them and they swear at them constantly.
Hodgman neoprene waders, owned 2 pair, both leaked 1st day out.
Benelli Nova Pump shotgun.  I've owned 2, they both jamed if they had a speck of dust on them.  Spend the extra money and buy the M2.

one more thing I recommend.
Troll Master 2 digital throttle control for kicker motor.  If you ever do any trolling, this is a must have.  You can sit in the captains chair and control your speed from there.  You can also control your speed much more accurately than the manual throttle on the motor.

These Are a Few of My Favourite Things

Me and my Simms, fishing on rivers,
Steelies on a C-pin gives me the shivers,
Drennans and gammies to catch Thompson springs,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Driftrods and flyrods, all of them Sages,
Calcuttas and Hardy, that's what all the rage is,
Ultra green peeling off my Silex that sings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Flylines from Rio and leader from Froghair,
Tiemco, Daiichi and my rainjacket from Bare,
My Harbourcraft Flyfisher, good outings it brings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Beads made from tungsten and Griffin fly vices,
Islander LX's, don't care what the price is,
Chromies and sedges and mayflies with wings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the line breaks,
When I get skunked,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Believe it or not, some products have as an End User Licence agreement that you won't publish a review of said product without consent of the manufacturer.  Something to be aware of.  Watch the fine print.  Caveat Emptor.
