Dear friends,

In an effort to raise the rest of the funds and have a good time along the way, the SSBC is hosting a Thomspon River/Spius Creek Fundraiser Pub Night Fund at the Bourbon 50 West Cordova in Vancouver, on Novemeber 23rd 7:30 PM. There will be lots of great door prizes, silent auction prizes and live auction prizes to be had. These prizes include custom handcrafted flies, "Steelhead" Buffs, an Islander reel, rod/reel combos, 9 guided trips, and many more. Featuring live, Arc of the Universe Recording Artists, "The Coalition" and "Kyla Coopman".

So far the SSBC has pledged $10,000, the BC Federation of Fly Fishers has pledged $10,000, Kingfishers Rod and Gun Club $5,000, Totem Fly Fishers $3,000, Kalamalka Fly Fishers $1,000 and $1,000 from the Northern Branch of the Steelhead Society. The funds raised will be used for stream stabilization and structure (rock and wood) projects on Spius Creek. Spius Creek is an important spawning and rearing tributary for the Thompson river Steelhead.

We are currently in need of fly donations. If you would like to help out with donating your favourite steelhead flies to a great cause, please send them to:

Steelhead Society of British Columbia
#110-1140 Austin Avenue

We hope you are able to attend this event as it promises to be a lot of fun.

Thank you for your support of Thompson Steelhead!

Should be a great night....Can't wait!!

The owners of the Bourbon, have very generously donated the venue for the evening. Thanks Gus!! It is a country bar, but you can leave your 10 gallon hats at home. The musicians that will be playing acoustic sets are blues/rock n roll, and the evening will be all about the cause :)

Hope to see lots of you there!!

The Bourbon is a busy place on Friday and Saturday night hard to host an event of this type those nights. Gus the owner has been great a very helpful gracious host and he fishes so he wishes the best for the SSBC and this event.  Some more prizes for the night a custom Moby net donated by Don Chatwin, Islander Steelheader Reel from Islander, St.croix Spey rod, Fly Lines from Scientific Angler and Rio, Dave Allen has donated four hours of tattoo time worth $640  with more stuff to come....Personally, I would drive the 3 hours each way (six total  :) ) to fish the Thompson religiously in my too short of a career there...I miss the drive the river and fishing for those fish.    Brian

Hey greyghost, if you are going is it possible to car pool. The driving is too much for me to handle by myself with my back, so the only way for me to go would be to get a ride out there.

Only two weeks left before the Thompson/Spius Creek Fundraising Pub Night  :) We hope all you Thompson river anglers can make it out. The more money we can raise that night, the more rock/woody debris structures we can fund on Spius Creek.

Brian Babcock will be hosting the live auction. Fly Gal, April Vokey, will be in attendance.

We are still looking for fly donations, please drop them off at either Sea Run Fly & Tackle or Pacific Angler to guarantee that they will make in time for this event. Thanks

Hook,
We are not picky when it comes to steelhead fly donations. We will take all styles of flies, from small low water to giant intruder type flies.

If you cannot make it to our pub night, our donation box is always a good way to help out the cause. Check out our website for details on donations http://www.steelheadsociety.org/ (http://www.steelheadsociety.org/) Thanks for your interest in helping out.

There are 9 guided trips available as prizes for the Thompson River/Spius Creek fundraising pub night. One will be drawn for any new Steelhead Society member or membership renewals that evening. Here are a few details of the guided trips:

- Fly Gal Ventures, guided 1 day Vedder river winter Steelhead fishing trip with April Vokey

- Bluewater Rockies Sportfish Guiding Co, guided Fraser river Salmon or Sturgeon trip with Chris Ciesla

- Riseform Flyfishing Ventures, guided BC interior lake fishing trip for two with Brian Chan

- Guided Columbia river fishing trip with Bruce Kruk

- Pacific Angler, guided 8 hour Salmon charter for four out of Vancouver harbour with Jason Tonelli on the 27ft Grady White, "Salty Dawg".

- Steel Line Fishing Adventures, guided 2 person Fraser or Harrison river trip with Jon Benedictson

- Sea-Run Guiding, guided Cutthroat or Salmon flyfishing trip with Kelly Davison

- Streamline Guiding, guided Fraser river Sturgeon or Salmon trip with Ryan Forester

- Upstream Adventures, guided Skeena region Steelhead or Salmon trip with Todd Scharf.

More details to come...

Carlo

To clarify Chrome Mykiss' response, it would probably be good if the flies were for steelhead. But we won't be looking any gift horses in the mouth... Thanks

With only 15 FWR members going, that's pretty high odds for winning some pretty awesome prizes isn't it.
