Unless I'm mistaken, Atlantis was a legend even in Plato's time.  It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, though that there are buried cities in the Mediterenian.  It is widely accepted that it was at one time lowlands that were rapidly flooded either through the straights of Gibralter or the Hellespont.

Does anybody remember the discovery of the brick road like structure  off the Florida coast..?   They were saying that was supposed to be an Atlantian Highway, even though the location is way off..
