Just wondering how much salt there is when it comes to deteriorating my gear. Should I have a dedicated setup or is all my fresh water stuff ok?

I fish the lower fraser and I would say its very salty, especially on the incoming tide. Always thoroughly rince off my waders, reels, rods, boots, and all tackle after every trip, and you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't notice salt deposits when fishing fort Langley, boat is pushed into the garage without washing.
Ladner there seems to be some salt and everything gets a wash and engines run.

Do you soak the spool or let out some line to make sure there is no salt trapped? How does braid react to salt?

Salt water is heavier than fresh water.
When there is an incoming tide I guess near the rivers bottom on the Fraser is salter water than on the surface.
I've seen the odd crab taken near Steveston so must be lots of salty water at the bottom unless the tide just pushed the crab up river.

I wrapped the line that was in the salt water onto the spool and just soak the latter in fresh cold water. The I reel the line back on the reel.

I read somewhere (can recall where so I can't vouch for it's accuracy) that the "tidal plug" (salwater that pushes up the Fraser at high tide and creates the tidal influence further upstream) extends only as far as Port Mann
