All I've seen are Tidal Fraser openings. Am I missing a notice about the non-tidal portion?

The only opening so far is a tidal with a retention of (2) sockeye

Just got a call and seems that the information was misunderstood and no announcement to an opening is forthcoming at this time. A deepest apology has been extended.

But dont put that green wool too far out of reach as there will be some sort of opportunity at some point Im sure.  ;D ;D ;D

Wife & yours "truly" rode bikes thru Steveston & 1st rode by a CBC NEWS truck & the reporter told me the story was going on air LIVE that there is a sockeye openning for the commercial fisheries...
As we rode alittle more another news truck (CTV) was spotted. Obviously to annouce the same news topic.

Nice high tide in the evening...seen two guys casting & retriving over at Gerry Park.

FN0704-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Sockeye retention in Southern B.C. Waters - Amendment to FN0694 - Additional open areas and non-retention in Areas 24 to 27.

Fisheries & Oceans Operations Center - FN0704
Sent August 10, 2011 at 1041

Amendment to FN0694: Additional open areas and non-retention in Areas 24 to
27.  The full text of the notice follows below.

The current status of the Fraser River sockeye return provides for recreational
sockeye retention opportunities in most Southern B.C. marine waters.

Effective immediately until further notice, in the following Areas, the daily
limit for recreationally caught sockeye is two (2) per day:

- Areas 11 and 111;
- Area 12;
- Area 13 (Johnstone Strait);
- Areas 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19 (Strait of Georgia);
- Area 20 (Juan de Fuca Strait);
- Areas 21, 121 and 123 to 127 (West Coast of Vancouver Island).
Note: Area 23 (Barkley Sound and Alberni Inlet) is open to retention of Somass
sockeye (refer to FN0447).
- Area 28 (Howe Sound, Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm);
- Area 29 (Subareas 29-1 to 29-5). Note that opportunities in the remainder of
Area 29 including the tidal portions of the Fraser River will be announced by a
separate fishery notice.

Sockeye retention is not permitted in the following areas:

- Area 16 remains closed to sockeye retention in order to protect Sakinaw Lake
sockeye. It is anticipated that Subareas 16-19 to 21 (Sabine Channel) could
open to sockeye retention in early August and will be confirmed by fishery
notice;
- Area 22 (Nitinat Lake);
- Areas 24 to Areas 27 inclusive;
- Subarea 29-8 (Boundary Bay).

According to Fred's Tackle website, the sockeye fishery officially opens this Saturday for all:

http://www.fredstackle.com/Fishing-Report_ep_77.html

I still can't find a DFO notice anywhere, so I'll err on the side of caution.

Definitely do not go out until it is posted, which I would expect by tomorrow.
