sorry for all the noob questions but my chinook rod and reel got damaged while moving and having a new born leaves the funds to short to afford one any time soon so would it be bad to use my 11.6 foot sturgeon rod with 100lb braid for chinnook ?

Your kidding right

If it's not a helpfull or reliant answer why bother posting an answer ?

Set up as a bar rig, sure go for it, I do not see any problems. People may think it a little odd and overkill, and it wont be as much fun, but hey if you want to use a single hook boat anchor, as long as it does not have a barb go for it. ;)

Wow that's a long sturgeon rod. Sounds like the perfect bar fishing setup.

Many guides use their sturgeon rods (usually 8 footers) for plunking.
The rod doesn't know what it's supposed to be used for.

Would work no prob for bar fishing as long as it can cast heavy weight... Good to go.
