Title: rice lake june 2nd
Post by: otto on June 02, 2004, 09:59:55 PM
;D i think i'm making some enemies up at rice lake!! got there today, 5 people fishing, no one catching. unloaded my 20 foot fishing pole, tied on a maggot and my lil corkie float. cast out. ten seconds later the float vanished into the water!! flyguy beside me kinda glared at me. i kept fishing, kept getting hits one after another. pulled out a nice fat trout, then another. 3 in total. 15 hits.  left about 2045 hours to head home and eat..........

the trick is in the presentation......my maggot hits the water like a bug falling off a overhaning branch, i space the dust shot weights so the bait drifts down at a nice slow rate, looks more natural. i also hone my hooks on a 6000 grit diamond hone.  ;D ;D

Hey Otto, what time were you catching fish until?  Or I guess it should be is what time was the bite on until (doesn't it get too dark?)?  Was the flyguy catching anything?

-i don't recall fly guy catching anything. there is a local fly fisher there who caught a couple of trout but he left just as i got there........

pet store (you can also buy mealworms, another excellent bait!), or stink up the garage and leave a chunk of meat out (stinks!) or use berkely micro's (grubs) - these are excellent and don't stink.....but then and again there is nothing like the real thing!! ;D

the real ones i get are twitching and moving!!!! same with the mealworms. i keep them in a bucket with about 2 inches of oats and bran on the bottom. (food) when i need some, i shake the bucket so they surface and grab a big handful.!!
