where can i sleep overnight near north end of the skagit?
« on: July 30, 2010, 03:02:55 PM »

Hi guys,

as Sumallo grove is day use only, where are my options to throw down a tent and sleep overnight, then hit the river in the early morning?

there is a couple WALK-IN campsites in that area. check around for a map that shows them. I think the closest one is like a 2km hike along the trail from the parking lot however i may have the distance wrong  ;)

Yip thats what they told me the first time too ha ha not so tho.... there are camp sites along that trail but the first one is 4km in. Considering the fishing on hand in the morning its well worth the trek. 4 km along the trail you will find an open space in the woods for camping and another 20 metres along there is the bear cache. I have never had any problem parking at the day use area over night.

Try the campsite that's inside manning park just before lightning lakes turn off.I'm sure it's only 10 mins. away.

Lightening Lk in Manning Park has a great campground and is pretty close to the river.
