Fireline rules has ever since it came out.

The Good News is that most people are too impatient/dumb to figure out how to use it, 20# is lots.

I've got one setup I use for everything (trolling, bar fishing)

Rod: A rod designed buy the people from Army & Navy I forgot what it's called (WICKED ROD!!!)
Reel: Abu Garcia Level Wind 6600 C4 (WICKED REEL!!!)
Line: It's called Veder, they sell it at Army & Navy, Just as good as the Maxuim and alot cheaper for a WAY bigger spool (1000yards) 20lb test

stay away from the daiwa coastal rod, you cant feel the bounce. i prefer the trophy xl medium 11 1/2 casting rod and is a good price too. landed many springs, coho and sockeye with it. i use a calcutta 400b baitcaster reel with it. for a spinning rod i use a trophy xl heavy 10 1/2. it has better feel than the medium action and i use a daiwa jupitor 5500 reel with it.

fireline will frey easilly. i use 50 lb toughline for main and 6-30 lb leader line maxima or gamma.

15 lb Maxima Chameleon works best for me.

will never use maxima again.  Horrible degredation rate.  For the money I prefer big game or Ande.  If I'm dropping coin, I'll go Izor.

Shimano Convergance 10'6 rod, Abu garcia C-3, Power Pro braid for main line and then Florocarbon for leader material.

HMX for rods and Abu Rockets and 6000's for reels.

on my heavy setups i use 50lb braid and for the lighter 20lb ultra green with 12lb leader.

shimano convergence, abu garcia 5600, very good combo for small rivers, not for BB

G.Loomis GL2 1265C, Shimano Curado 301, 15 lb. Maxima Ultragreen mainline and 10lb. Maxima fluorocarbon leader
