The takes I've found this year at least tend to be slow and light and the float goes down similar to a snag. Mind you I prefer to fish water that is walking speed or less so that does give the fish more time to be relaxed about the whole affair. I do know that with coho for instance they love the speed and tend to attack more viciously in faster water.

Why don't you guys take your banter to email. You're ruining what was a good thread.

Steelhead aren't in a Union so the really don't strike.... they bite. Usually hard and I guess maybe like a fencepost.

First fish( Hatchery doe 12lbs )- with fake jensen roebag-float quickly dipped 3 times and disappeared. On the forth I got it.

Second( Hatchery doe 9 lbs)- with a 6" pink worm- float went down like a snagged.

Thrid( Wild buck )- with real roebag- hammered the roe like no tomorrow.

Forth( Wild buck )- with real roebag- hammered the roe

Fifth-( Harchery doe 16.lbs)- hammered the roebag !!!!!

Sixth( Got away )- roebag- took it like a trout- float was bouncing up and down like a little fish

Seventh( Got away )- roebag- grab and run. Float went down so quickly I was surprised.

I think a majority of the fish I hooked quickly take the roe down.....

Steelieman, what a good memory you have.

I have the same experience as most of you and that is the float goes down.  The question that is at the back of my mind is maybe I have not been carefull enough about light bites and wonder how many strikes I have had that got away.  I think I have to watch for it.
