Going camping at Kawkawa Lake
« on: July 19, 2006, 05:33:30 PM »

Heading up for a camping trip with a bunch of people at Kawkawa lake this weekend. Never fished the lake before. Anybody got any tips or suggestions or know how or where to catch the fish there? Anything at all would be apperciated.

Around a year ago (early July, do a search, the report is still there), we were there fishing for kokanee and did quite well. The fish are around 12 to 14 inches long. You'll need a boat, to get to the deep portions of the lake. You'll need a light spinning rod, 4lb test line is good enough. The rig is simple. Use a small running weight, swivel, leader, size 6 hook. Bait, deli shrimp or krill. Cast the bait out, let it sink and come back to the boat. The fish are deep down, the bites are light.

Good luck.
