I just watched your extras clip but watched it without sound. It's kind of creepy to think that one trip/slip and Kitty goes under with nobody around to help. Might have been fun at the time but that had serious potential for a bad outcome.

Be careful out there, kids. We all want to keep watching your cool videos for years to come.

I agree. Kitty being out there in that deep water on her own is pushing the risk threshold. That could have easily turned into a bad outcome all too fast. Not worth the risk for a fish in a river where the fish are plentiful and can be caught much more safer.

Kids?! Actually being in my 40s now I should be happy that someone is calling me a kid... ;D

Very good points. This is my write-up accompanying that video on social media actually:

Quote
“What a baby...” WHAT?! 😔 While filming "Wild River, Untamed Coho", Kitty was determined to get across the river to where the fish were. They always bite better on the other side right? 😉 I was more concerned about my $$$ camera gear. Actually, a decade ago I would have done risky crossings, but after close calls and now being a dad or two kids, I no longer walk into water above my thighs, no matter how good the fishing might be. Good effort by Kitty though, she probably would have caught ten more if she got across, right? 😁 All jokes aside, Kitty’s determination when it comes to fishing is rare not just among female anglers, but all anglers. Her persistence is what often gets her into so many memorable catches, as you can see in our latest episode.

As I said in the above statement, I have pretty much stopped any risky wade now. As soon as I have to question it, I will not do it. I probably should have stopped Kitty from trying that particular wade, but knowing her she probably was not going to listen anyway. ;) I did promise Every Day that I'd bring her home alive after every trip, so I better put my foot down more in the future. ;D I think overall I trust her judgement so wasn't too concerned. If I recall correctly, she did say that it was actually not the wise thing to do. These are just learning experiences, to take actions within your own risks and more often than not our mistakes don't become dangerous. I'm pretty sure all of us have had the "Oops, I shouldn't have tried that wade" moment. :)

It's funny. I remember the third trip I ever took Kitty on. Walking a waist deep, pretty much stagnant water run. She wanted to prove that she could wade on her own. She looked at me, let go of my hand and said "I can do it myself!." She took 3 steps and starfish bailed. She's come a long ways since then, and I'm actually glad to see her trying stuff like that. She knows what to do if she falls, and the water below there is an easy swim.

Even funnier... I was there only a week and a bit previously with Kitty, and I wouldn't even do that wade with her. She should have known better if I wouldn't do it  ;D  :o

That's not a black bear - it's Milo! And he's slimmed down some. Nice.

One last bonus clip:

I think Kitty is going to host her own TV fishing show soon. Great camera presence and she slays them. Clearly she' Rodney's lucky charm fish finder. Rodney, you best have Kitty sign a contract identifying you as her agent.

Not just Bear - Native folklore claim him to be Samsquantch.

If you look closely a the first picture, you can just make out what is the end of his pocket fishermen. Not many believe this myth but believe you me, Milo is marsupial. To this day we are unsure what he carries in that pouch - some believe it to be Excel chewing gum. Others believe it to be pink worms.

He is the Fish Bear.

Video will be available tonight at 6:30pm. Here is a pic from it. I'll post a link up when it is published.

Seriously - this is a calendar picture.  The picture is a fishing mag cover shot. It's just - wow.
