I wonder if there is a formula for spool size and distance to lowest guide and guide eye size. Eye bet there is an optimal ratio but it may vary with line type n gauge...

Pattullo/Port Mann area for an hour this afternoon. Saw only one riser, otherwise quiet.

There are a couple rules of thought. Common is KR by Fuji.

I use around 21" with a high frame size 20 guide for 8lb test on a 2500 size reel.
