Anybody been up to Whistler lately? Wondering if the ice is off on Alta or other lower elevation lakes around there.
-
Soon Grasshopper-soon.....
-
I was told that ice came off at Alta earlier this past week.
-
Did a bit of fishing and hiking the other day. Hit 5 lakes and only 1 fish to show for it. Wait a few weeks
-
Both Green & Alta are 100% ice free but not much going on quite yet.
I fished Alta today and earlier in the week nothing to show not even a follow-there were some other guys fishing and they looked to be doing little better.Going to have to bring my bike to ride around the back of Green public access seems to be limited on the side you can drive to.
Browning Lake on the way to Squamish had a class or something going on yesterday man was it funny to see all those girlz flogging that puddle.
-
Lots of fish active now and it should only get better. Landed about 7 fish, all released, and can't count how many I lost.

Did you get any big ones? Or just small rainbows?
-
Nice! I was able to get a couple hours in yesterday and managed one small cutty and lost something else.

I was up there at my parents place on alta for four days... returned yeasterday... was fishing off the dock, was averaging 1 fish a day, got a beautifull 19 inch cutt 9am saturday, that fish made it all the hours pent on the dock wothwhile for me. was using my 5wt with full sink line with a size 14 olive wooly bugger... my standard capilano fare...

Do you mean rent? or do you want to hire a guide with a boat? you used to be able to rent small electric powered boats at green lake... that was years ago.. not sure about now.

Alta Lake has canoe rentals.

Still pretty small, smallest 8 inches and largest 12 inches at best. Daisy Lake is still low, but when the water gets up a bit the fishing should be great. But you gotta hike to get in there, really tough getting up, nearly vertical where we fish. But not a sole around so it's worth it. In two or three weeks you should be able to pull 2-3 pound fish out of the lake.
Cheers

This place rents canoes on Alta & Green Lakes both-expensive though I was just quoted $30/hr if you can believe it. :o

Can anyone suggest if a belly tube is good enough for Alta? thx...
-
A belly boat is fine as you don't have to go too far from where you launch it to find fish. The lake can get windy (southerly wind) in some afternoons but again, you can find pretty sheltered spots along the east shoreline. With this being said, be warned that it can be very cold in that water! Even just having your feet dipped in the water on a pontoon boat freezes up your body on a sunny spring day.

Thanks, Rodney.

Should be fine unless the wind is so strong you wouldn't want to be out there anyway-and that doesn't happen a lot.

Email me at currieartworks@hotmail.com and i will lend you my Trout Stalker Pram (8ft) single person boat. I live across from the Alta boat launch and you can carry it across the street.
