Title: Stamp River - Medium Clear & Dropping
Post by: Murphy Sportfishing on February 18, 2015, 12:02:55 PM
The weekend past and week to date has had good fishing again as more fresh fish continue to move into the system.

Anglers on the trips have been encountering 4-8 fish per day. There are winter fish through out the system now and all the way to the most upper reaches with new fish in the lower daily.

The falls pool and areas below it continue to be very productive.

Now that the river is entering a medium and into lower phase be sure to gear down and use smaller terminal tackle and lighter leaders. The fish will have lots of visibility so tread "lightly" on presentation and cast entry.

The fish are still trending larger than the past years averages.  This is great news for Coho Salmon since Steelhead and Coho all grow up and feed in similar ocean areas, so conditions are favorable for both species. With these conditions we expect the fishery to remain strong through early March.
