Seems like the the industry may be not so profitable with new future DFO regs and water closures around the bend.
Rivers Lodge - Rivers Inlet, BC is up for sale and with a reduced price.
All yours for a less then 500K
Everything Included

Is it a floating lodge? i herd they have changed the regulations around them and is pretty expensive now for the permitting and building the added requirements.

I think a fishing lodge woud be a horrible investment.
Very labour intensive, seasonal, long hours, and most of all against the “Green” trend.
Rivers Inlet is an icon. To be for sale that says something.
They are consistently regulating them out of business. :(

The recreational fishery is not like it use to be. The limits and size were controls that were supposed to keep things in balance. Somebody was not paying attention.
As a result, people are aware of the poor fishing. No fish,no fishers.

Well maybe if we can create a new fishery..... a bullhead fishery! Thats the ticket! I can just see it now, a nice big sculpin mounted on a two foot wooden plaque with the inscription, “ Lunker”, engraved on the bottom.
Maybe we can promote fly fishing for them with full sink lines.
And now we just need a few interesting new cooking recipes with some celebrity chefs, like an Iron Chef competition using bullheads as the “secret ingredient”!
When life gives you a bunch of lemons.... make lemonade. 😀

You joke but i'm pretty sure they have a derby in the states for pikeminnows that is pretty popular.

Not owning one but I've definitely considered switching careers and working for one. Industry seems to be dwindling with declining stocks , shaky economy and higher regulations but the retirement aged population is about to explode which may drive tourism business.
Very high risk.
-
Yes the retirement population is exploding but do they have the $$$ to spend?
I think evrything is a way more expensive than people imagined it would be and retirees will be careful how they are going to spend their money. Fishing is an expensive hobby. A lodge experience is even more so.
Very risky is right.....
It would be a fun job though.

I can't think of a possible worse investment for your money. Who in their right mind would invest in an industry that is as dead as recreational salmon fishing?
You might as well just invest in typewriters or Blockbuster video rentals....
-
Hahaha.... typewriter????... whats that? ;)
-
Typewriters have made a comeback. I've seen a few hipsters in Vancouver typing away on those when I was in a Starbucks. No joke

Clackity clack. I'm Ernest Hemingway.
