Title: Winter trout fishing tips
Post by: canuckjgc on November 26, 2009, 02:57:06 PM
Any winter trout fishing tips?  The local lakes have been stocked recently and it's a good time to discuss.

My thoughts are to fish during mid-day (a little warmer), use wet flies, maybe weighted, or spoons / spinners and keep things moving to get those lethargic fish to bite.

That's all I've got...anyone else?   :P

The stocked trout in Lake Lafarge will still very readily feed on Powerbait / Power Eggs off the bottom.
More people are bottom fishing than using lures or flies there, and the bottom fishers seem more successful at catching them.

The fishing is starting to slow down, but there are still more left.   Last week, I can easily hook into 6 or 8 within a couple of hours.    This week maybe about 3 in those same 2 hours.    It'll slow down further and maybe I'll switch to using lures, as the trout get more "powerbait-shy".  (Try something different)
