Title: Seymour hatchery volunteering, September 30th
Post by: Rodney on September 27, 2004, 12:27:46 AM
Hi Everyone,

We are going to conduct another hatchery pool seine this Thursday Sept. 30th. There are a lot of coho holding in the hatchery pool these days!!! Last Thursday seine was a little difficult because of the amount a fish in the net. We ended losing the majority of the fish because we didn't have enough pulling strength. So if you are available this coming Thursday, we would really appreciate the help!

The weather forecast looks good this week, so I don't anticipate the river conditions to change.

Hatchery Phone: (604) 640-9690

Thanks,

James Weger

The late September seine is always the best one. Unfortunately, I am working from 11am til late night Thursday. You guys have fun on that day. :)

flyguy, definitely phone the hatchery today or early tomorrow morning to confirm your attendance in case there is a time change or cancellation. They also need to know you are coming up so you can gain car access to the hatchery.

I tried phoning after work they were closed. As I won't know for sure until tomorrow afternoon I imagine I could send James Weger an e-mail tomorrow if I can make it?

Yes, bring waders. There is one river crossing involved and you need to be in the water while tagging coho. The hatchery provides waders too... but, bring your own just to be cleaner. ;)

Damn it, I couldn't get through today and I didn't get a chance to email James Weger about the possibilty of helping out tomorrow.  Does anybody know what time the volunteers will be picked up and taken to the hatchery?  I hope to able to make it.

Cheers,

Call the hatchery in the morning to let them know you want to go up. They'll then leave your name at the front gate, security will let you drive up if your name is on the list. :)

Thanks Rodney.  Any idea what time it'll be over because I have to be at work by 4pm which means I have to leave by 3pm.

Thanks again

Couldn't attend today but what was the result?

Just wondering about the health of the stock.

Thanks
