What size should a roe bag be   Do you put loose single eggs in the bag ? Does it matter what color of sack you use ? I have never used nor seen a roe bag. I read about tying roe bags .

about the size of a quarter... if you really want, you can buy a kit at any fishing store. they contain instructions (a bit pricey).   i recommend ...."spider thread" above all for tying.

Oddjob, this photo may give you an idea how big the roe sacs should be. I tied these up for steelhead fishing in the winter time.

Normally when fishing for coho, I tend to stick to piece of roe. The only times when I've used roe sacs in the past are fishing faster water, since roe sacs have a bigger tendency to sink than roe chunks.

You can also use pieces of roe to tie sacs. I sometimes tie those up the night before heading out. The disadvantage is, it can get rather messy if you're using pieces instead of single eggs.

Preference of colour is up to you, or the fish. I really like my procured double hot red and have good success in the past. The eggs in the above photos are natural.

Nice picture Rodney. I tie my roe bags with 4 -5 single eggs in pink, orange or white mesh.

how would u attach it to the hook......... would u just put it in a bait loop?

I just hook it on just below the knot

Thanks for all the help. The bags i have tied look a little off, they do not look like the ones in the picture. I used single eggs and wraped them in a hot pink netting.

I don't usually attack my roe sacs, otherwise they'll pop.
Usually I'll thread it onto the hook just underneath where it is wrapped, then use the bait loop to secure it.

I hook mine through just below where I tie it off with the thread.  Depending on water conditions I use between 4 - 6 single eggs in pink sacking.  Sky's the limit on egg and sack colour to try.  Couldnt hurt to have two or three different set ups for a day's fishing.

I had some killer roe 2 seasons back on the cap...it out fished anything/anyone in the same run.  Anyhow I started to run out and I took the last bit and all the loose eggs and tied 3-5 egg roes sacs.  

They worked better than the roe as it stayed on the hook will casting and was equally as appealing to the fish!  Great way to make a good batch of bait really last.

I hook a roe sack by running the hook thru the sac just underneath the wraps that hold the bag closed.

try 4 or 5 eggs and then break one egg open just before using.  Gives more scent
