Title: Not just key'n on color
Post by: kanuckle head on November 09, 2013, 12:15:29 AM
Today @ my secret spot # 1 November chapter held a lesson that will never be forgotten
I fished this spot more than a week ago, gin clear and rained moderately a few days before. Many stale fish, stagnant in their Zombie ways but in the outs certs ghosts patrolled, zooming in & out of formations . Those were visually were my target & on the fly this rained supreme over the gear
But today the water level has risen, due to heavy rains days before, even if only sprinkles in today's adventure the visibility was no more the waters rise, under a foot. Blind casting fly's was @ a disadvantage
The first on the menu was a brighter version from a week before, in anticipation of a murky playfield. disappointing cast after cast the fly box eventually keyed on a color with better results
My fishing buddy, lacking in the art of fly chucking which I told to mimic his gear in the color that I had luck in, soon retied
The spinner kicked ars in the murky water that held an attraction to the keyed in color & a vibrating blade
I had luck only if the fly was @ the hoes nose but the murky water attracted not just color but turbulence in its path
Still the day was not @ loss
Any day a released fish with sore lips exceed my sore arm is a good day

I read this thread when it was first posted...I honestly thought I was suffering from fatigue because for the life of me, I thought it was written in gibberish, encoded for someone specific.   :o

He said the water at his secret spot was higher and murkier than a week earlier but he was able, after some trial an error, to find the right colour the coho wanted.  He told his buddy, who was not fly fishing, to try the same colour in a spinner, which turned out to work better than flies.  However, he still had a great day of fishing.

...or something like that.

I think this dude is a reincarnation of the "salmon pirate" or in the least, a fellow graduate from the same alma mater of literature...sorry no offense intended, but really, what's wrong with plain old English?

No biggie if you weren't able to decipher as it was a bunch of self back slaps with no meaningful information to gather or to learn from... ;)

I say give the guy a break, he obviously had a great experience on the river and wanted to share it. Maybe it should have been posted in the fishing reports section. And most of the reports on the forum are guys giving themselves self back slaps....posting pictures of a limit gives no information to learn from

So true. It's always one of many, best fishing ever, 8 to hand in 20 mins.
Guess I'm the only one who gets skunked sometimes.

You might be right there. Thought I'd lighten it up with a ;) but obviously not enough.
My reply was more for those who were wondering if they missed anything.

It is true people really don't understand the English language. Must be all that text ''mumbo jumbo" that is frying their brains or is it the cell phone glued to their ear.

How does a cellphone glued to your ear have anything to do with English proficiency??

Plenty of people understand the English language. Most TVs and movies are in English, so are newspapers, books, magazines ect ect. The  odd person using really bad English on a forum about fishing is not a very good representation of people as a whole.(As long as by people, you mean people who actually speak English. If you are including people who dont speak English,  then you are right, "people" dont understand English, 'cause they speak Hindi or Mandarin or Spanish or whatever.)
