Woke up early at 7:30 today and went to ambleside for 1.5hours. Didn't bring the crab trap. Caught 4 small sole and one larger one about 6 inches which I released. All caught on shrimp. Also caught 2 small whitespotted greenling and a puny cabezon, also released. I was fishing in the center and i hooked a giant sole that was at least 2 or 3 pounds. I was pulling it out of the water and the hook came out! >:( :'(One guy caught 5 flounder that were all around 8". Even though I didn't catch anything big enough to eat it was still a beautiful day to be out. :)

Ah Ambleside, great place to take the kids and introduce them to fishing.

I have never been there, is it good for, big fish, fishing?

Not generally for big fish although you can occasionally catch the odd coho during summer months. Mostly soles, bullheads and shiners.
