Hey guys/gals, trying to go practice fly fishing a bit while also bottom fishing with bait on a river system in the lower mainland. Would any of Stave, Pitt, or Alouette be viable options right now? Which (if any) would you recommend?
-
Any one of those would give you similar chances of hooking a trout or at least a Pike Minnow, and Pitt gives you the chance of hooking a bull trout. Pitt may be a bit more coloured from freshet than the other two, and Alouette is still closed above 216th.

allouette above 216th is closed right now just a reminder.

Just a heads up you can only use one rod at a time unless fishing from a boat. Personally for bait fishing I would target the Pitt and try and catch some bulls. For fly fishing I would prefer the Stave and try and catch some cutties or whitefish.

thanks for the replies guys. Yup, double, triple, and quadruple checked the regs before heading out.
Stave is flooded. Not a lot of shore access. All the 'good' spots were taken. Road closed on the Mission side.
Allouette and Pitt were not that productive today. Nothing but Northern Pike Minnows lol.

Just to expand the previous post a bit. It's two rods allowed from a boat at a lake. If you are fishing from a boat in a river, it is still one rod per person, regardless whether you are alone or not.

Helps to have my wife that loves fishing as well :) So yep, two rods ... one with a bar rig, the other with the flies. Of course my wife always takes the fly rod from me lol

Right now is tough. With the freshet all the fish are pretty spread out. I've never hit any rivers before July in LML. By then things clear up.
