Bass Pro Shops to Acquire Cabela’s
« on: October 03, 2016, 06:21:49 AM »

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-02/bass-pro-said-to-win-auction-for-outdoor-gear-rival-cabela-s

Can't find anywhere if they'll keep the Cabela's name in any stores.

Edit: changed link to bloomberg

here you don't need a WJS subscription:

It was not immediately clear whether the acquisition would result in any store closures, but the companies said in a statement that Springfield, Mo.-based Bass Pro Shops would "celebrate and grow" the Cabela's brand

Sounds like a Monopoly, anti trust etc.

Which has probably already been going on anyway...

Being a consumer, I prefer more competition not less.

I went to Cabelas last Sunday for the first time and don't understand all the fuss about them. Prices are same as other stores and I can get better discounts elsewhere plus selection imo is wrong for B.C.

I'll second that. They seem to know the right brands (or at least the right names know them) but the styles and sizes are totally mismatched to mainland bc.
