While jigging from a pier (for pikeminnow, trout or salmon), does the super skinny jigging spoon work a lot better than a regular spoon (such as a Gibbs Croc)?  Does it work better than a buzz bomb?

I do not have a lot of experience jigging spoons, but I prefer a wider spoon, even more than the relatively slime Crocs.  I like the wider "wiggle" spoons because I think they flutter more and also hold up in the water column more, i.e. don't sink as fast for a given weight.  Therefore you can keep them in the strike zone longer and are less likely to snag bottom. YMMV.

Has anyone found it helpful to add a soft (e.g. feather) tail to a spoon?
