Thanks for your responses.   Would sure like to hear from other anglers regarding this question as reporting on this site and other similar forums , along with brood stock captures and derby entrant numbers, are all we have to gauge present Chilliwack River steelhead numbers.

Horrible year for above the bridge. So bad I found myself fishing the lower end holes for the first time ever.

guess its my lucky year then. First trip and landed one on the fly, next two consecutive trips I missed one each trip due to waiting for the stupid fish to turn with my fly before setting the hook only to feel it let go  >:(

Hoping to head out this week once or twice plus sunday, maybe I'll beach another or more  ;D

Just curious here, to all anglers ... when was the last hatchery fish you have seen above the Vedder bridge?

I am new to fishing and not sure what exactly is the Vedder Bridge. If it is the bridge at the 3 way stop between Yarrow and Fred's, I saw one hooked above it on the 29th. If it is above that, I have never been there yet.

Agreed.  Not only too damn cold and windy, but the lower river level is dropping inches daily. Without rain the upper river will soon be a big creek and a lot of the off channel habitat now rearing coho and steelhead parr, and incubating chum and pink eggs, will be dry.
