I hardly think anything mentioned in that report is a secret.
Cates Park for Pinks a secret?Come on Cammer you can do better than that man.

I agree in my limited experience. The Vedder is not a secret.

Your right the veddar is not a secret but as the river changes so often why give away a productive spot that you find. True people that do the work to find different spots will find it, but those fishermen 9 out of 10 times will respect it and not crowd you out. The snaggers and flossers will usually never stray from there meat holes unless the hear or read on the internet the next productive area.

Quiet you, get back to reading... You want those free Tradex tickets next year no? ;)

Ah... commercialism rears its ugly head ;)
CJ.

Of course, gotta milk every cent that I can from the website. ;)

But seriously, if fishing pressure is indeed correlated to the amount of information posted in the fishing report section, then we should limit the readership right? ;) This would motivate those who can post reports and benefit them in return as well.

Back to the planning room...

I was there on the long week end in August. Almost not a sole. After saturday fishing maybe 8 guys on sunday and monday. Then it was reported here and boom , in a huge way super crowds. Is Cates Park a secret spot? Not a chance but the volume of anglers there changed dramatically after in was put on the internet. From 8 or so anglers to 20 plus the next, work morning. It's not the end of the earth but seeing that there have been a few schools of pinks in the Fraser and it's yet to be reported as red hot, fishing is a tad more pleasant over here right now. Once a few more guys show up, then it will be time to do reports on the Fraser.

Maybe we need to turn the report section into a subscriber only section.

I think it's a great idea to have a more secluded location to post informative reports. It's like that on many other sites. It also makes anglers a touch more willing to report slightly less known spots.

Well, useless to keep arguing about the benefits/damages of some post, I guess that'll be up to each member's judgement. That being said, it is my opinion that from the moment you start getting concern about "giving out information" the point of visiting the forum is missing, and perhaps those concerned should stay away from here. My opinion may be biassed, since I have learned quite a lot over the last years in this forum, from basic techniques to fishing spots, etc., and that wouldn't have been possible if most members would have kept the secretive style of posting on the grounds of limiting BB'ers/poachers/snaggers actions.
No intention to offend anybody, but it simply doesn't make sense to me.

as with everything there are  pros and cons to the fishing websites we use and enjoy,i think in our society today with the increasing population and types of people we encounter in our daily activities i think its great that there is so much info available for these people that are new to the sport to learn from.As well as learning techniques , run timing fishing methods etc,it also helps with people getting involved on the side of river cleanups and conservation as well as making people aware of the  important issues that plaque our increasingly sensitive fish stocks. On the negative side of things though i think that the advent of the internet ,like so much other technology in our society today has made us lazy and want everything made easy for us.What ever happened to the days before the internet, for me i can tell you there were many days flogging the local rivers learning how to fish,to read water, presentation, best times to fish, best baits ,colours to use ,and the best spots to fish, there were more secret spots back then and they were usually found by actually going out and spending time on your favorite flow and learning, and when you arrived at your secret spot only to find another person fishing it,it wasn't a problem because you knew that person probably has put in the time to fish and walk the river to find the secret hole and just didn't sit at home on the computer waiting to hear pinks at Cate's park get out there.I guess what i am saying is get out there and fish and enjoy the time on the water wether you come home fishless or not,the more time we spend on the internet means less time to find that secret hole.

Well I didn't want this to turn into a " right or wrong thing" but to my defense even if the ( snaggers ) were to fish that hole they wont last long. The run is to deep and slow and the only way to fish it is with a float! I will however keep this in mind for my next report. Thanks to all. I still say that Dolly was a beautiful surprise though!!! Tight lines
