How does one go about buying or ordering one of Don Campbell's Centerpin reels?
Does he still make them, or do I have to find a used one.
I am considering a Milner ( Kingfisher ) but have heard and read a lot of good things about the Campbell reels too so considering this as an option if I can find one.
Looking for a LHW bushing reel if anyone knows of either one for sale. Milner or Campbell

I recently met with Don about one of his reels I own. Don is not, and most likely will never take orders for reels. He tried it once and it was too much of a headache for him. He did however make an order list from the used tackle sale for anyone who was too late to snatch up one of the reels he had there. Don still makes his reels but only when he feels like it. I would definitely recommend buying one of them. You will have to find one used, or attend one of the next tackle sales where he will be. I think you will have more luck finding a Milner. I own both and they are both great.

So...... 5" or 4 3/8" ....opinions?
I checked out both and the 5" just feels too big to me ....
Now as far as a rod to pair it with ... Still trying to figure out whether I should go with a 3113 or a 3106 and then gotta settle on either a lb or mb...... hmmmm....

You gotta figure where you'll predominantly fish.
A 5 inch will give you better all around pick up.
The 3106 (3 power 10'6") will work well on most local flows but the 3113 will help you cover medium and larger flows better.
Price will dictate some decisions.

Mostly fishing C/V and Squamish. Currently have a 10'6 baitcast ( Shimano Technium ) as is, it is a bit on the heavy side so looking to keep weight down, hence thinking 3106 over a 3113
I'm thinking I go with a 4 3/8" and a 3106. Although I did find a 3113MB for sale at a decent price locally .....so....hmmmmm
Will an L model handle C/V springs and chums .... will use mostly for coho and steelhead.... or should I consider just going with an M to cover all situations....decisions decisions...
I do want to spend wisely, so all the help here is greatly appreciated...

Dont know.... what is the difference btwn 3106 and 3106lb? I know the LB is Light Blank and know the MB is Medium Blank but a 3106 ( no designation ) is ...what
Guess this thread is taking a tangent ...... I am still open to a Campbell reel, if I can find one, but chances may be slim it seems..

3106lb is perfect for steelheading. 3106 is a meat stick, good for springs and chums.

I picked up a new Milner 4 3/8" LHW bushing reel in the classic Rootbeer/Siver colour.
Took advantage of a boxing week sale and got it for a great price!
Now to find a rod ...

If you are looking for the rod to be light there will be a big difference in 3113m and 3106 lb, I like longer rods so now I fish a 3113 lb that was custom built , way thinner cork and shorter than factory, super light reel seat, and a 4 Milner kingfisher.
This setup is feather light , what I prefer for steal heading .
Some guys think 4 inch centerpin has slow pick up and don't prefer it, but I find that 75 % of casts while steal heading are close and not too long of drifts, so my opinion weighed in towards rather having a light setup vs pickup and speed of reeling in.
Also because my shoulder was always sore after a day of fishing with a 3113 m paired with a islander reel what I had before...
Everyone has their own opinion , but I found that 3113 m was too heavy of a rod for vedder stealhead.
By the way , I landed stealhead in 20 lb range, fought lots of huge chum and had 30 lb springs landed no problem with my 3113lb, yet at the same time catching a bull trout of 2 lb would feel great just like a five lb fish .

Thanks for the advise as I was really unsure as which way to go .... light was indeed the goal though so.....
Picked up a 3113lb blank from 'flyrod' and had Dave Barnes build it.
Very happy with the result. The 3113lb and Kingfisher are indeed feather light and casting all day is not tiring at all.
Now to catch a fish!!!

Congratulation on your gear I myself was wondering about l versus m but got deal on m I couldn't resist. Well I could ,but would look stupid doing so. At the time I was advised that m is most versatile and could be both for steelhead and spring. I was wrong it seems. My rod was used three times only that is 3 times and only two times there was fish on it so perhaps I could swap it with someone for the l version of similar quality (components).
Let us now how it is performing during the season if you don't mind.
