Bringing fish into Canada from States

Pikes Market will ship to Canada but you have to allow approx. 7 days for inspection and delivery in which time the fish have gone bad, has anyone fished in Washington State and brought their catch back to B.C. and if so what was the Border like for doing so? ??? ???

that's news to me...maybe on a commercial level... i've brought home striped bass from san francisco before and never had any problems... i know it's different for live catch because of the concerns of ferrel introduction to local waters, but for dead fish?  ???

I was fishing Columbia a few month ago and didn't have any problems crossing border with fish.

I've fished Point Roberts off the beach last fall for coho on the fly, caught two..kept them and declared them at the border when crossing back into Canada..the border guard wasn't interested in even seeing the fish..just told me to keep moving but that's Point Roberts...the main crossings might be different.

No problem bringing  fish into Canada from anywhere.

I've brought back  Albacore from WA & Oregon and all kinds of stuff from Mexico a number of times-I guess it doesn't carry disease because as mentioned they don't even ask to see it once it's declared.

I think the general rule is if it's not an invasive species, dead and swims in the ocean it should be fine.  Best bet is to check the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website or call them (1-800-442-2342) and/or as people suggested always declare when you cross.

What type of licensing do you need to fish Point Roberts?

Brought back many steelhead from Washington state...never a problem. Border guards just move you along
