Title: Silvermere lake - fishing allowed?
Post by: Trout_Bum on May 09, 2012, 06:07:00 PM
I was wondering if anyonecould tell me if you are allowed to fish Silvermere lake which is just west of mission along highway 7? I believe most of the shoreline is private, but can a guy throw a boat into the lake along the highway and fish that way? I understand there is bass in the lake. Anything else?

You just opened a can-o-worms.

Queue the Navigable waters act discussion,  land owners trying swamp fishermen with their boats, RCMP being called, Cars being towed etc...

There's a bunch of dickheads that own on the shoreline that harrass anyone that fishes the lake.

I've heard of large ski boats coming out to try and swamp smaller fishing boats.

The only place to launch is on the public land next to the highway but it is probably not worth it.

Two years ago we were aggressively approached several times, and told to leave, by a group of homeowners on Silvermere driving a speedboat. We were in a 10' pram with an electic motor, quietly fishing the opposite side of lake. We politely refused to leave, and I made it obvious that I was video taping them on their second and subsequent approaches, which were less threatening than their first (untaped) visit. Despite their promise to call the cops, no police officers came to speak to us. Clearly these are small men with too much time on their hands, and too little grey matter between their ears.

I think you have to be an american to love bass fishing?
Big in Eastern Canada. Fun to catch there because they dont have what we have!!! Tons and tons of lakes with Rainbow trout!
