Got my self brand new fly gear,so as of last weekend I"m carrying with me fly and drift rod, but last sunday, one guy on the river told me that having with you two rods is against regulations, even that another "stick" is in the rod holder and you are not fishing with it.
-
Nonsense, there is no regulations on how many rods you can carry. I know quite a few people who carries a drift rod and a spinning rods. That guy is giving you a line.
-
don't think so
i always have two rods - what happens if one breaks
lots of guys have two rods
you cant use two at the same time - that is illegal
-
Yes you can carry two rods with you as long as you do not fish with both of them at the same time on a river.
-
Thats the case for pier fishing as well...only from a boat can a fisher operate more than 1 rod AT ONCE.
-
I'm definitly guilty of carrying more than one rod with me at a time on the river. Some days I even have three with me.
-
Think of it this way. Do you just take one club to the golf course :)
-
Looks like I'm heading to jail also. Hopefully I can squeeze in a couple more days before I get cuffed.

There is no limit to the number of fishing rods a licensed angler may use in tidal waters, even when accompanied by an unlicensed person. However, an unlicensed person may not operate any fishing tackle/gear.

really so i can go to a dock and fish with 3 rods if i want???? i am confused...

Hi all
I often take a fly and a drift rod and I guy told me the same thing once. Turns out the info he received was from a park ranger @ one of the local lakes. It seems they have been having a problem with some freshwater anglers using two rods from shore so they some (not all) of the rangers have been telling people they can only carry one rod with them. I doubt they can do this legally since you can cary as many as you want with you as long as you only use one at a timr.

You can have three rods with you rigged up but you can only have one line in the water at a time.

Here is the link to DFO site in respect to number of rods you can use

How do all of u carry the second rod when walking long distances or walk fishing..u know what i mean! :P
DaN
-
I keep mine in a rod tube with an arm sling.
-
I allways carry two Flouting and sinking, if in my boat I could have even more.
-
I have a rod bag similar to those used to carry rifle, but longer to fit fishing rod.
-
Is a guy allowed to have two rods set up for bar fishing??? I know you can have two set up in your boat. Would be interesting seeing guy try to use two rods while float fishing! ;) Some guys, like me, have enough trouble using one.

Page 9 Provincial Fresh Water Fishing Regs
It is Unlawful to - use more than one fishing line, EXCEPT a person who is ALONE IN A BOAT ON A LAKE, may angle with two lines.
-
Fresh water and Tidal water has different regulation.
I believe Rodney mentioned before that although other tidal water you are allowed to fish more than 1 rod but Tidal Fraser you are only allowed one.

I was wondering when someone would actually check out the rules. Thanks, Lew Chater. I actually tried this a time or two. Trolled a fly, cast a plug or spoon. Didn't work out at all; wasted a lot of time getting thing untangled; didn't catch a single fish.
