One item that should be sold at fishing tackle stores.

Some fishermen like to fish the back country  / wilderness areas. Some 4x4 in on logging roads or do a hike in to fish.
Even some more used & popular lakes have trails nearby that some may get lost on.
All it takes is a bit of a trip or slip & get an injury or mud slid / heavy rain / fog to get a person lost or unable to return safely.
Good news today that the dog walker was found after a two day search in north Coquitlam.
Last winter 2 asian guys got lost on the northshore mts. Were their bodies ever found?
So much time & resources are spent on looking for lost hikers snow boarders fishermen...
A metal whistle is not the best device to get rescued. Nor is a smoke flare. Most do not even carry those items.
In this day & age cannot every person going into the back country have an electronic device that when activated signals the exact location of the person.
Cell phones can be used but sometimes they do not work well in all areas or the battery gets low...whatever.
A special electronic locator that every person has to have with them when going into the mountains via hikes or 4x4 backroads on & on... Should be the law.
Sure would have more hikers found alive & save on resources & time put in by S&R.
Small plane went down in the interior last summer. A week of  20 or so planes searching. Needle in a haystack. Never found the plane I believe.
Now a Argentine sub on the bottom & air running out. Ships from 7 countries in a search.
No electronic signal given off the small plane or this sub.
In the least the sub should have a 1000 ft line with air ballon that could be sent to the surface. ( US sub off the east coast years ago was found by a floating balloon at the end of a line. 1/2 crew rescued.
Diving bell went down.
So so so many of us are going into remote areas for one reason or other & if one gets into an injury/lost the person should just to have to push a button & help is on the way to that exact location.
