This event is an opportunity for us to say THANKS! to all you dedicated volunteers who have helped us throughout the year. Please join us on September 24th to celebrate the Chilliwack River watershed! This is also a fantastic opportunity for recreational fishermen to spend a few hours giving something back to the watershed that we all love so much. There will be plenty of time to fish before and after the event too. ;)

I will be there. I am even going to bring my little guy out to help. Since he will be joining me in future fishing adventures this should be a great learning experience for him to see what it takes to keep the river system clean and most importantly show him what happens if you do not bring out what you bring in. I can't wait to meet more people from this forum especially Chris. Hope to see everybody there.
-
I'll be there. Just look for the guy hoisting 4 Coho in his cooler and say Hi. ;D

Bringing this back to the top, hopefully now that sockeye salmon season is coming to an end, more will consider coming out for the morning to help out. Don't do it for the website, you're not representing FWR, that's not the intention of this volunteer drive. The river truly requires as much help as possible, after heavy usage by various recreational groups during the summer holiday. We hope all will come up to Thompson Park, register so we know how many bodies we have on the day, and also enjoy the BBQ afterwards. It will also be a good venue for people to meet others who also fish the river, maybe gain some knowledge on the coho fishing. If you don't plan to drive up to Thompson Park that day but will still be fishing because of the distance, please bring a few garbage bags. By picking up some garbage along the stretch where you're fishing and the parking lot, you would also become part of the volunteer force. The Chilliwack River provides fantastic fall and winter fisheries, let's prevent it from being ruined.
If you find that the Chilliwack event is too far away from you, there will be many other events taking place across BC on September 24th. I'll be posting up other event information as well, so stay tuned. For now, please read:

Chris' description to go with the photos:
Some photo's we took today on the Chilliwack River. This scene was repeated several times this weekend throughout the Chilliwack River Valley. This particular area had a active fire going when the camp was vacated by the weekend campers. Thankfully the fire was doused in time by Fraser Valley Regional District staff before it turned into a serious situation as the fire was near a tinder box dry forest area.

Back up to the top! We are now one week away from the big event!
The weather is coming together nicely so fishing should also be good on the 24th. Be sure to come out and fish at first light, attend the event, get fed at the BBQ, then fish some more. ;)
Subscribers, if I have not talked to you, let me know that you are coming to the event as I will give you a free Stealth Float (http://www.stealthfishing.com). :)

One last bump, leaving now to pick up the goodies at Tim Hortons with Buckeye and then head up to Thompson Park to set up. Hope we have a good turnout as the CVRCC directors have worked hard once again to make our BC Rivers Day a fun event as well as give the Chilliwack Vedder River another face lift.
