FF ,yes there IS such a thing as selective angling methods.

Its called Barfishing and a method that i have yet to catch a Sockeye with and have only seen a couple caught this way. ;)

Sockeye still get hooked barfishing so it's not selective. It's impossible to completly eliminate any by catch of another species. If there so worried I don't see why they just don't shut it down all together until the early stuarts are through, usually the fishing isn't the greatest at this point anyways for a little while.
