Stave parking question
« on: September 27, 2016, 03:30:09 PM »

I took a scouting trip to the Stave today and drove in (by way of a detour) to the east side. There was the usual bunch of vehicles parked at Hayward and Keystone. However when I walked in there were no fishermen or any signs of fish. I know it's early and I was really just out for a look see, but why are those cars parked there ? Are they possibly some sort of overflow from the damn construction ?

You missed my point. Those are not fishermen parked at Keystone. No one was on the river east.

Word on the street is that parking is now so limited on the Stave so some anglers are paying locals to park their cars there to reserve the spots for the chum fishery when it begins in about a week from now.

I'm trying to think of a clever response but all I can come up with is " You must be kidding ".

Sure - its probably become like parking around the PNE/Coliseum. Locals park on the street before the events and then rent out their driveways. Money to be made everywhere you look.

I remember from last year a bunch of construction workers parked their vehicles at the road side area and then packed themselves into a single vehicle to go up to the site. Maybe BC Hydro has removed most of the parking for their construction crew or maybe it doesn't facilitate the need for how many people they have up there?

there are popular hiking trails along both shores of Hayward Lake - some people parked there may be walking their dogs or out for a daily constitutional.

That's some pure evil right there.

Street parking is with permit only. They are allowed to park there.
