Title: oil bath hubs

What are you fellas using to replace the oil in you trailer hubs? Mine is an EZ Loader and of course I checked the hub after buying the oil. I purchased 80W-90 but the hub says 50. Most people seem to think this is fine. Thanks in advance.

SAE50 is pretty hard to find, in essence its Industrial Transmission Fluid.

The 80W-90 is a multi-viscosity oil; so when its at room temp its 80W; and as it heats up it becomes a 90w. It should be fine, alot of people use 75w-90; so what you have is close enough. Your main concern is lubrication, so atleast you are taking the right step and changing out the old fluids.

I use Royal Purple 75W-90 which you can get at Canadian Tire. I also have an EZ Loader trailer.

You can use anything over 50 weight. I use leg oil since I have lots of kicking around.
Some people use Lucas oil which is thick like molasses.

Ya thats what I bought was standard Lucas 80-90 but I think I will change it to 75-90 synthetic either Lucas or that Royal Purple. Thanks very much for the feed back everyone.

I use 80w 90. That's the standard for big rigs so if it's good enough for them it's good enough for my little boat trailer.
