Spent the weekeand at Ricks..mostly not sleeping (6 hours in two days) and eating pancakes..
Hit the flow early on both days but sat. was more productive..quite the zoo up there that day but we were early enough to fish some decent water. Got over a dozen on and landed a few...
Rick got a couple as did Hop Sing, who also fished lower and got a couple keepers out of the chuck..

I used a lime green fly at first, only tied one and it was the ticket..(thanks to the gear guy who told me that color worked for him) I lost that so I had some with pink and lime but they didn't do squat...then the ticket was a big ugly pink wooly bugger..think the color of the water was making a larger presentation stand out...I tied a crap load of sparse pink marabo and sllver bodies and they just didn't seem to work that well...tried um repeatily and got two fish in three days so saving the rest for clearer waters...

Mine were caught on Jetboat Jim's flies that he gave me earlier when we fished the chuck. Thanks for the flies and for the casting tips JBJ! The flies were pink...... ;)

Its still on and off there right now with the tide change
I was using pink today and hit lots of fish till the bite went off about 9am

i was into about twenty fish during the day today, and about ten or twelve to the beach. spotty at times but today was by far the most consistant fishing ive had since the run started..

Because it is open for catch and release, and the Cheakamus run does not make up the entire pink run of the Squamish River system. If management analyzes the run and sees that there is room for catch and release opportunities, then anglers should be free to do so without being judged by those who enjoy "harrassing fish" too. If you feel that more angling pressure is not needed on a run of fish like I have sometimes, then don't fish it.

Of course, catch and release has its place and time. C&R too many can be a bad thing too and it again comes down to how informed an angler is and his or her intent. Mortality from catch and release would be considered when managing a stock. Enjoy the bass fishing.

I always have to shake my head at the people that look down their beaks at someone who bonks a fish for diner then proceeds to brag about how they caught and released 10 that day........guess what they killed more that day than the bonker did. this is a quote from 2slow and it's true. i won't fish for pinks in the squish system this year, i just thought people would give them a chance, and just cuz the ministry says its ok to catch and release........are they always correct? bass fishin is still hot so off i go. :)
We are sports fishermen thats what we do. I C&R 90% of my fish. I release all trout & steelhead and only keep the salmon I am going to eat. Would it be better to kill 50% of what I catch? I dont get your logic. Do you kill all the bass you catch? You think if a fish is hooked in the lip it has a better chance of dying than surviving when released? If so please provide us with some hard facts and numbers as I am sure we would all love to see them.

i release all the bass that i swindle to go forth and multiply.i'll get right on those hard facts and #s for ya
releasing all those bass doesn't make you a good sportsman, it just confirms that they're not worth retaining.... :P ..... why do you think you never see them on sale at safeway or save on foods ? ....and how many cookbooks feature recipes for them?...NONE.....coarse fish at best, garbage fish in the least.

as an angler worried about ethics and the survival of salmonids....... i would think that you would kill every single goddam bass you encounter........ of course i jest.... don't take my comments seriously.... not everyone sees bass the way i do...... i hear they make good fertilizer for the garden ;D by the way... were is the bass fishing hot? 8)

13+ fish landed, all released, all survived...I know it's hard for treble hook snagging bass fisherbeeks to understand but some of us do know how to properly handled and release fish...Your so called facts when you find them but to which I KNOW your going to refer is based on all fish caught...which when I'm on the river and see YOU guys and your coffee grinders and have to, NOT, to kindly remind you that this is a single barbless hook fishery ...takes into account how many hooked by you and your brethren end up dying...I'm guessing at least 85%
Talk to Newsman about how many fish caught by his group of YOUNG flyfisherman ended up dying over at the pond he took um too...Find out some real facts first before you beek off???
