Has anyone has success with a good outboard mechanic who is willing to come to your home? I would like to go by word of mouth as there are just too many backyard mechanics out there. Thx

Maple Ridge Marine; they don't make house calls though.

Yourself, get the manual and start tinkering.

Thx for the info guys, but I was hoping to find a mechanic who does work on the side either after hours or on the weekend. I was thinking about doing it myself and still may, I just don't want to get over my head.

If you know what the problem is just make a detail list of exactly what you took off the motor in that order and take some pictures. Replace worn parts and reasemble. If you don't know what the prob is thats where it gets tricky. Get a manual. As long as you know how it came off it will go back on in the reverse order so its hard to screw up.

I agree with pictures and a manual it should be straight forward, most outboards are pretty simple.

Go on Craigslist boats I have seen a few adds where a mechanic will make house calls .
good luck

Thx but Craigslist is not an option. I tried that last year and the fellow that came over was just some backyard mechanic. I prefer to go by word of mouth.

Ask for Brad
He's my brother in law, this is his side business. He's a heavy duty mechanic by trade. If it has a motor he can fix it. It's a legit business, registered with the government ect....
