Just a brief report, hopefully Rick will fill in the details when he gets home if hes not too tired.
There was some good food, good friends, and a few lucky anglers had some good fishing, all the while raising some money for a worthy cause.
The river was in great shape and you couldnt have asked for better weather, there were 6 fish weighed in today with the biggest weighing in at 13lb 5oz. "those of you who guessed six contact Rod for prize pickup ;D"

A big thanks to Rick for all the time and effort needed to put together another excellent event!

Of all the goodies on the prize table there...what was the 1st Place Prize? (Just curious)
-
Any idea of the number of wild fish released today by derby participants?
-
How many people participated/how much money was raised? :)

:o
I'm prized out. ;D
Nosey, so close, but third place is still very good. All that training during the week paid off. ;)

Just a quick reply while I am still conscious.. ;D... We had a good turnout, almost 70 anglers, 6 fish weighed in and a ton of great food !!
was really nice to see how many people are willing to come out and donate to a great cause, it is nice to think that we as fisherpeople can still make a difference no matter how big it may be ..
A big thanx goes out to those who volunteered their time to help me make this event a success.. you know who you are :)
it was very nice to meet with Frank Kwak of the SDA, I was happy to present to him $1425.00 !!
Thank you very much to all those individuals and companies that provided the prizes for our derby, without you days like this would not be possible
there is much more to say but right now I need to get some rest ;)
what a great day we had'
cheers TH

Did you get one again this year?
-
Did you get one again this year?
Nope :) if I had I would have released it back ... wouldn't look good to enter fish two years running ;) that plus the fact that I only got to fish for 1/2 an hour lol

Congratulations Rick and everyone else for running yet another successful derby. :) Email me pics at info@fishingwithrod.com if you want to add them to the album that I've set up and post them here.
-
Thanks to you and all the anglers that were so generous in the donation to the SDA, the money I am sure will be put to good use.
Next year maybe have the derby in February and then I may not have my annual January cold. :-\
Good work once again by all that took part and to those that donated so many prizes. ;D ;D

Some pics have been uploaded, these ones so far are all taken by Lucky.

HEEEY! ;D
I said it was going to be six, based on my observations of the river conditions yesterday, and I was right!
What do I win? 8)
Maybe I should become a political advisor or something... :D
-
Sounds like the derby went well! I wish i could of made it!...dam hockey! 6 steelies is not bad at all!
-
Think a BIG thanks needs to go to the Lady's that helped...set up, cooked and brought the food etc. Behind the scene but much appreciated by all us frozen anglers...
-
I would just like to thank everyone involved for another great outing and a good donation to a very worthy cause. An extra special thanks is definitely in order for Rick and all the special women who brought everything together and made it work so well. Thank You. It was a very fun day and I can't wait to do it again next year. :D

Just wanted to say thanks to Rick and his much better half, along with all the folks that helped put this together. Was a great day out on the river and a great bunch of people at the ceremony. Again thanks to everyone involved for the great cause. Was also nice seeing a lot of people again I hadn't seen for a while.
Any idea of the number of wild fish released today by derby participants?
Don't know how many wilds were caught, I released 1 about 7-8 lbs. Didn't see anything else were I was other than a guy that looked like he had one on for a moment across the river just after first light. :)
-
good to hear it went well, i hope i can get out to it next year, reason for not goin was dad tore a back muscle and i had no one to go with. Prizes looked awsome, and all fish entered were nice fish. Seems like this will be a tradition for years to come. Congrats to everyone, especially the guys who released fish.

Thanks Rick, your better half, and everyone else who help put this much needed event together... A very worthy cause!
It was nice meeting you all, we were fishing right until 2pm so we were a bit late... We fished hard with both fly and gear, we hit 7 runs all together, and it was just not meant to be... I didn't even see a fish caught by anyone Sunday.
I thought it would be in the bag, but instead I spent two days being skunked, that's steelheading!
Cheers,
Nicole

Stupid kid having a birthday party....... >:( :'( ;)
-
Thanks to Rick and all the others for putting the derby together. Fished the derby with EZ Rolling, but we did not connect with any fish yesterday. And Nicole I am pretty sure we saw you, as we were also hard at it trying to find the elusive cold hard steel. All in all a fun time, looking forward to next year's derby.

Yup thx to Rick and the girls too, I had a excellent time and got some good pics that I'll send in after I return from Chetwynd. Sunday was actually my last official day of fishing for the next three weeks and I'm already going through withdrawal.
