Title: got prawns and roe sacks, need infor on tomorrow's trip..
Post by: Sinaran on March 13, 2006, 10:36:22 PM
i am heading out tomorrow for my 3rd. steelies fishing trip ever in my life.  i haven't hooked up with any yet, but i would give it another try before the season winds down. i was using pink worms and roe sacks on my previous trip, never a hit.  so i bought some pre-cooked prawns today from safeway, some new pre-tied roe sacks and will have pink worm ready too.  what to do with the prawns?  cut them in halves and fish like some anglers on this site do?  do i have to boil them first? coz i know they get messed up and loosen up easily after a few casts. thanks a lot for the experience sharing... :)

Just use them whole. You may wish to add some coarse salt to them to toughen them up a bit. Good luck

I like to sprinkle some Dbl Hot Red Procure on mine the night before along with some scent,  prawn oil or ghost shrimp.  If you have trouble keeping them on use some spider thread to wrap them tight on the hook.

You buy lots and eat the ones you do not use.

you might also try a few blades, I prefer the colorado size 3, in the hammered nickel finish...I get many fish on them after fishing a pool with roe or prawns, seems like some fish will touch nothing but....

true that!!!!!  blades always seem to work no matter what the water conditions... my favourite is the gold plated hammered blade
