Just curious ... your avatar suggests you use dogs for hunting bears.  Yes?  No?

I'd have a real big dog for griz. :)
Other than that I have a "bait Pug" for smaller game. If your using the urine masking scent, Pug is probably the champ.

There are Grizzly Bears this far south of British Columbia???  I always thought and heard they were more of a northern bear.

I took this picture driving down from jones in the early summer. You tell me but I think it kinda looks like a grizzly.

Tough to tell from that pic.  Most likely a black bear.

Any pics from the side to show the shoulders or a better closeup of the face to show the ears and nose?

You could try cropping the original high-res pic and enlarge it a bit and repost it.

BrysonK, your bear is a black bear.  Cinnamon is one of the colourations common in the Lower Mainland, in fact, most of the bears in Pemberton are cinnamon-coloured.

The grizzly is on the California state flag, range used to be all the way down to Mexico I believe.  The range is smaller today, but we have grizzlies in the Lower Mainland, they're just a lot more sensitive to people than black bears and tend not to be seen much.

Another couple of indications:

Brown bears have more of a "dish" facial profile as well as shorter, rounder ears.
