Title: Camping in Hope
Post by: buzzer on July 31, 2012, 11:22:51 AM
Hi. We are camping in Hope this weekend. Just wondering where the best place to fish there. What fish are available/can we catch at this time? The closest lake there is Kawkawa lake. There is also the Fraser river beside it. Thanks in advance for any info.

Hope has lots of places to fish within an hour.
Theres the fraser for springs
silver lake for trout, dollies, and if your lucky steelhead
hopesilver creek, its a bit high right now with alot of the good water not fishable but theres trout and a few steelies
lake of the woods (never fished it) but it has trout
Coquilla river (spelling?) has trout and the odd steelie but make sure to look up the online regs because they change alot.
cedar lake in sunshine valley, I fish this alot in my float tube because i have a cabin there, its a shallow lake with rainbows and some dollies, but beware the wind it comes up BAD usually about 11AM.
skagit and sumallo rivers containing rainbows and dollies, there both a tad high but are fishing good with nymphs
a bit farther out in Manning park theres lightning lake which is full of small rainbows.
The similkimian is a really nice river with lots of runs and some nice trout.

good luck and if you decided to fish cedar lake let me know.

Jones Lake is stocked with rainbow and cutties and can make for steady action for medium-sized fish (12-15").

Can be fished from shore, though I'd recommend trolling if you haven't been there before.

Best way to do the scale bar is with your lawn chair and cooler . Just sit back and watch the show  ;)
