How do you catch one of those? Aren't they on the bottom?

It is pretty obvious that big steel was not short floating as those are found on the bottom of the river usually under rocks. Must be getting desperate for a fish. And as for his secret spot it was a secret last year during steelhead season but now I do not think so. To many people have been brought in there. Oh well plenty of river to fish and more spots to discover.

In Big Steels defense he was just trying to find bottom and than after he got that he adjusted his depth.

Should have included the stealth float with that.. Maybe would have won those three floats with that huge catch ;)

We used to catch those up in the sloughs around Hope as kids with little pieces of bacon. They would hold on to the bacon  even after we pulled them out of the water and placed them in the bucket. We let most of them go after we watched them swim around in the bucket for a while. One day we kept a few and pan fried them with garlic and parsley butter. Dam good, would feel too guilty about keeping enough to make a meal now though.
