exploding rod
« on: October 25, 2015, 04:42:21 PM »

Was fighting a smallish doe chum today and just as I was beaching her my 11'3" trophy titan TTCP power 3 exploded into 3 pieces. This rod is only 5 weeks old. Ive heard of this type of thing happening on older trophy's but has anyone had this experience with a titan. Sure hope I get some compensation for it.

Did you have the rod tip way up when it snapped?

I've had my old trophy pin rod break, took it to the shop and they sent me a new tip in a few weeks.
No hassle, just without rod for a few weeks.
If that was to happen now i have many back up rods in the closet.

Yes I was choked,  no I didnt choke up. Was landing the fish the same way I have landed a thousand others. The fish was 10lbs tops.

My bosses rod was a trophy Titan mooching rod, exploded only in the upper section under a 20 lb spring while fishing the west coast last year.
Took it to searun fly and tackle , got a new half of the rod on the spot...

Chum turned my two piece trophy CP rod into a 5 piece last Friday. Poor form on my part but I will be trying to get a replacement top for it this week.
