Place your vote.

I vote Canada, but I think we should keep our eyes on those pesky Finns.

I turned on the TV with 5 min left in the 1st and thought..."Sweden"?
What govenrnment buracatic moron decided on those "things"? OMG I almost  :-X
JOVO is gone.
I was a little disapointed in the lack of calls for goalie crashing.  I was more disapointed that our boys didn't deliver some punishment for it.  Where's Bertuzi when we need him? ;D

I had to laugh the other day when I daw something on TV about a special "commemorative" luckie loonie for sale.  LOL Who's going to buy that?  I've got some lucky loonies.  I'll trade them for twonies ;D

I heard Jovo got injured.
I noticed Chelios was the US captain.  Is he a FA this year?  Returning to Detroit?

marty brodeur is looking awesome, and it's nice to see the whole team coming in with points.  st.louis is showing why he was leading scorer in the league thisyear  ;D

Could be a costly win for Canada. Lost defenceman Wade Redden with "an upper body injury "

is it me? or are the americans starting to show their age on the ice?  or  maybe  they're not playing motivated hockey.  myself, i don't care much about them, but you'd think with all that talent, they wouldn't need to play so 'chippy'.

The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming.  Can't wait for Saturdays game.  The U.S. doesn't have goalie problems, but I like Hextall's "emotion".  Next game will tell.  These games only matter for ice advantage and nothing else.

Post by: blaydRnr on September 03, 2004, 11:22:17 PM
chelios is such a bonehead,  but i kinda like him ;D.

he plays gritty, sort of  canadian style hockey. its just too bad he's flawed (american)  :P

" the russians ".  they're fast skaters, good puck handlers,  and great passers (tape to tape).  to top that off, they always seem to save their best games for the canadians.....  that's good because they're gonna need it!

  :D   "GO 'NUCKS GO!!!"   :D

great game tonight.  it really solidifies canada's calibre of talent and the depth of their line up.

not to take anything away from russia (a great team), but canada made them look 'ordinary' tonight.

brodeur isnt getting enoguh credit, he's playing awesome... 1.00 GAA... and WOW, who say taht save he made on afinigenov tonight on that cross ice pass???
Title: Re:World Cup Hockey
Post by: blaydRnr on September 05, 2004, 05:51:38 PM
i don't think there's anyone now that would argue over brodeur's stature of being the best canadian goaltender.

he's a class act and after all those years of being put behind the likes of patrick roy, curtis joseph, and even ed belfour... he deserves the spotlight and title of premier goaltender and i don't think he'll ever be 'back up' to anyone, ever again. at least not when representing Canada.
Title: Re:World Cup Hockey
Post by: Fish Assassin on September 05, 2004, 10:20:39 PM
Brodeur is probably the MVP of the tournament to date.

Burke was upset at Mclean and other CBC crew during last years playoffs when CBC released the salary figure of $2M/yr that Burke wanted from the Canucks owner.

Burke vehemently denied that figure but the CBC crew maintained it came from a reliable source so Burke and Mclean bickered over it on air.

I love Burkie :D  I love watching him bite his tounge.  You know he wants to let McLean have it, but he seems to be controlling himself.  Get rid of Cherry and put Burke into the "Managers Chair".

Finland 2 USA 1. This World Cup could be the swan song for several American stalwarts ie. Brian Leetch, Doug Weight, Chris Chelios, Brett Hull, Tony Amonte.

Sorry Koho!  I just got back.  I was watching the game in Quesnel at the Shark Club with about 20 other sales guy's.  Pretty funny.  Everyone was ignoring the phones and doing paperwork between periods.

Check out the first post.  Pretty good prediction ;D
