West Vancouver beach, August 3rd 2011
« on: August 03, 2011, 05:14:29 PM »

First pink of the year for me.  Also first time fishing the ocean for pinks.

Caught a nice male on a spoon, released it.  Nice day  :)

Great photos.  There's nothing like fly fishing in the salt.  The water heals your boo boos too.

Boy those males start to hump up fast.

I am not much of a "finesse" fisherman...when i was tying on the spoon I realized the barnacles had nicked the line so tied the knot up higher...

Yes the male had a hump I was quite surprised.

Maybe the fish was attracted to the spoon because of the odd looking tag end of the knot dangling like that.  LMAO!!

one  hot summer afternoon in tofino  i  thought  it was a good day when a  few coho  bit  my buzz bomb.    then a  guy with his kids join me and  royally  catch  more coho  that day  on  wrongly tied  jig.    he was using the kind that had an  eye at one end.      he tied the eye at the tail  where the hook is.
