Title: Old and Unknown Reel
Post by: Seahawk on December 22, 2015, 09:49:08 PM
Hi All

I'm looking for someone with some knowledge of old reels.  While fishing one day, I found a reel in the bushes.  On the gear cover of the reel, it says "DAM Berlin West", and on the body it says "Quick Finessa" and on the handle it says "Made in Germany".  I have not seen or heard of anything like this.  I also took it to Sea-Run Fly and Tackle and they have never seen or heard of anything like this either.  From what I can tell, it is still working just fine, although there is no line on the reel.

Can anyone shed some light on what I may have found?  I'd be willing to send pictures if you wanted.

Thanks,

The reel you have is likely from the late 50s or the 60s. Spinning reels then were largely made in Europe Dam was a major maker in based in Berlin. Mitchell was made in France and then there was Abu in Sweden. Dam is still around:
