Carol Hunter's herring video
Here's a link to the best visual treatment I've seen of the herring spawn. Such a spectacle, but so difficult to capture. Carol's eye for natural processes is incomparable. My highlights: clam spouts, Brant on the beach, otters porpoising, herring in shallows, sea duck raft, ... (This is the same artist who made the video of coho entering Beadnell Cr a couple of falls ago.)

I was lucky enough to be on the island in Qulaicum bay (pretty much right across from denman) while this was happening. Incredible to see, felt like I was watching a nature show!

This is why there should be no herring fishery period. Herring are a staple for salmon , many types of birds and mammals. Say know to a .herring fishery
